Project Start-up - Challenges and Objectives
PROJECT CHALLENGES:
1) We began this project on November 8, 2019, it was getting close to winter.
2) There was a great deal of extremely steep grade for concrete pours.
3) Because of the steep grades we needed to make sure that we were properly dealing with historic water runoff from rain and snow. We only ran into one major area of concern at one of the lower elevation areas and ended-up installing a drainage ditch to move the high-flow drain water to an appropriate area.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
1) We had approximately 290 lineal meters (LM) of concrete sidewalks and stairs to install, 410 LM of concrete footpaths to install, and 215 LM of handrails to install.
2) Because of the long runs of sidewalks and footpaths we divided crews into work details, that is, one detail started excavation work, the next detail poured gravel and compacted soil, next came the crew that installed the concrete forms, and so on. We did this so that we could have a continual flow of work.
3) We wanted to complete the work as quickly as possible because winter was coming...

PROJECT MODIFICATION:
We received a Purchase Order to provide additional handrails to approximately 200 lineal meters of the Footpaths that were installed on steep grade. Purchase Order #19TU46-19-C-1011-P00001. Click here for a brief project description.
